Review of Oblivion The Movie

Debbie Nicholson - Author Kindle StoreToday I caught the train to Porirua and while waiting for an appointment with the Solicitor, I decided I would catch a movie.  Oblivion just fitted into my time frame, therefore I decided that was the one for me today.  I love Morgan Freeman.  No matter what part he plays, he is always so convincing. The movie is based on a novel of the same name by Joseph Kosinski and Arvid Nelson.
Official Obilvion PosterI love Science Fiction and this film held me in suspense many times, jumping off my seat at times and experiencing great fear in the pit of my tummy at other times.  Future Earth destroyed beyond recognition, and the story of 2 people left as the mop-up crew thinking that their mission is to save mankind from unfriendly beings.  Look at their front porch landing platform.  Fantastic views of the earth from thousands of feet up and living in a home to die for.  And then a third person comes onto the scene – another woman – and of course 2 is company and 3 is a crowd – except that the third person turns out to be Jack’s wife of another time and place.   Front porchJack starts to question what his life is all about – they are just two weeks from finishing their mission – they will be going home – or so they think.  I am not going to tell you any more as I would spoil it for anyone thinking of going to see the movie themselves.  Stunning scenery shot in Iceland as well as in the USA. Jack’s space craft with it’s special design – I just loved what might be our own future means of transport in years to come. And below Jack and Julia Harper as they escape drone machines out to get them at all costs.Morgan Freeman and Tom CruiseJacks space craft

  • The Word Of Knowledge
  • The Faith to be Healed
  • The Faith To Heal
  • The Working Of Miracles
  • To Prophesy
  • Discerning of Spirits

  • Interpret Tongues

1 Corinthians 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal

Moroni 10:8 And again, I exhort you, my brethren, that ye deny not the gifts of God, for they are many; and they come from the same God Moroni 10:18 And I would exhort you, my beloved brethren, that ye remember that every good gift cometh of Christ.

Doctrine & Covenants 46:8 Wherefore, beware lest ye are deceived; and that ye may not be deceived seek ye earnestly the best gifts, always remembering for what they are given;  9 For verily I say unto you, they are given for the benefit of those who love me and keep all my commandments, and him that seeketh so to do; that all may be benefited that seek or that ask of me, that ask and not for a sign that they may consume it upon their lusts. Doctrine & Covenants 46:26 And all these gifts come from God, for the benefit of the children of God.

When enquiring as to What Are Your Spiritual Gifts – be prayerful and always mindful of the thoughts and feelings in your heart and when you do discover the beautiful gifts with which you have been blessed, then nurture them and love them and expand on them to the very best of your ability so that you may show your Father in Heaven what you did with the gift/gifts that He blessed your life to have.Debbie Nicholson - Author Kindle Store

Anzac History & McCavity

(Written on our Anzac History Day 25042013)

Tonight I walked along the beach at a much later part of the day than I usually do.  What a different atmosphere – and of course different people with varying attitudes towards the sacredness of such a time.

Today was the 25th April.  A day that we celebrate in New Zealand – Anzac history – as a time to remember fallen soldiers who went to war so that we could have the lives that we have now.  As I watched the
sunset my thoughts turned to long forgotten Uncles and distant cousins who fought for me just to be here tonight to experience the beauty of the sky as it is now.  And grateful thoughts flooded my mind as I thought of them in trenches, no doubt suffering atrocities that no person should ever have to suffer – far away from loved ones, untrained for machinery that was used against them, unprepared for futures without limbs, sane minds, and estranged from loved ones, hearing foreign voices and languages that neither comprehended only feeling that this was the task at hand of killing or being killed regardless of who was right.

My day today was planned for a day of knitting a beautiful baby shawl for the next generation arriving in a few short weeks.

Before I was able to get into that task I had to farewell a fond friend McCavity who is the star of many of my books McCavity sleeping in the sun 150– McCavity, Jim and Lin – moving to another site away from contention and a bullying tyrant with an agenda of her own simply because she is in charge.  And as I watched them go down the road, sad feelings invaded my thoughts that seemed to influence how the rest of my day went.

Amazing when we are not truly being aware of our thoughts.  The knitting I started – one and a half rows that took me an hour to complete.  And suddenly I realized I had made an error in judgment as to the row I had started with and I had to unpick all of that work of an hour.  As I neared the end of the unpicking that I kept telling myself was all a learning experience I felt a sudden hunger for nourishment after which I then felt extreme weariness. So without resisting I listened to my body and went off for a nap only to be woken by a phone call from my darling to tell me he was on his way home from work.

Right now I looked back on my day and thought, “What did I accomplish today?”  Normally I work on my computer from 4am to between 6pm to 8pm allowing for a 2 hour walk somewhere in between.  And today I was happy to plan for my day off solely to knit.  Other events however, took over my minds feelings and the day turned out entirely differently to what I had planned.  Even tonight after my walk Night Is Approaching 150 I settled into resuming my knitting and still had problems with the pattern not going right.  All I could think of was that my mind wanted to be writing the posts I need for tomorrow morning for my blogs.  It did not take much encouragement from my darling to persuade me to get back onto my computer and do just that. This morning when I woke I asked myself the usual question – what action can I take today to help me to achieve my goal of …………. And I guess now I have got myself into a routine that makes me want to take that action.

So the knitting will have to wait until another day.  Not tomorrow because tomorrow I and myself have planned a day out together again – we are going to the movies and taking ourselves out to a nice lunch somewhere, shopping at some time for necessary items and to walk a great distance for exercise in completely different surroundings.  Just so I can let myself know that I am special.  I am loved by me.  And I do appreciate me.

Having followed this routine for 12 weeks now, I am much better able to compose my writings, much happier in myself, and much less distracted by trivial things.

You should try it.  The only way you can love others is to first fill yourself up with love.  Enough so that you can give much away.

Talk to you tomorrow.Debbie Nicholson - Author Kindle Store

Training & Development

A lot of training & development today – really knuckled down so I can have a day off tomorrow doing something for my family who is on his way (Yes, I am to be a great grandmother in a couple of months – the next generation has started!  I am very excited about it too.)

This giant Bobcat machine interrupted my concentration and provided a much needed break during the day.  He was clearing land next door so that the horses can get around better and also to make it tidier I guess.

150 size for doc stoneToday Doc Stone talked a lot about listbuilding using TrafficZipper to help us manage our safelists when we have more than 3 that we have to look after.  When we sign up to these safelist sites, we are agreeing to receive emails from them which I didn’t realise before.  I thought that they were just a bunch of nuisance emails to be deleted or unsubscribed from.  However, Doc Stone put me right this morning.  When I get an email from a safelist I need to click on it and view the site they are advertising so that I can get credits to send out my own emails.  Who would have thought that?  And if I build up to 100,000 credits that then enables me to send 100,000 emails. They are a necessary animal in the internet marketing world.  You need 2 email addresses – preferably both gmail.com addresses. One of them is going to be for all the emails to come in.  And if I am signed up to lots of safelists then I will need a manager which is Traffic Zipper. And you have to whitelist the safe list addresses so that your email will accept them all.  They are the easiest thing to do and the best kind of marketing to start out with. He also advised to buy the lifetime upgrades as the best way to go because then you don’t have a recurring cost on your credit card every month.   Plus always be reinvesting into our businesses by spending the $99 or whatever it is for 1 million credits so that we never run out of credits for sending out our own emails.  A very interesting learning curve today – thank you Doc Stone.
Janet Legere 150 sizeTraining with Janet and Don Legere was extensive today. First was Permission Based Marketing on Facebook taking us through the process using a script that was designed by Janet.  And if you want to know what permission based marketing is all about, then it means that you are going to ask a person their permission before you start sharing your business with them.  She showed us how to locate new friends on our Facebook site and invite them to request information about our business so that we could send what we had to them without fear of being rejected for spamming.  After the lesson I sent off a few emails to people in their private message boxes and within an hour I had 7 affirmative replies so that made me happy.  One person even Skyped me from Nevada and now I have a friend over there who is interested in being my business friend.

Next I watched a webinar on Branding myself which is very important if you are a serious internet marketer.  People have got to know who you are if you want to Janet Legere 150 size

make money using this medium.  First of all, Don stressed that we need to love who we are before we can expect anyone else to love us and to seek us out.  We have to get all negativity out of our heads so that we can get on with the job in hand.  In order to brand ourselves we need to have a domain name that expresses who we are, e.g. using our own names if they are not already being used.  If your name is being used by someone else (let’s face it, there are millions of people on the earth and several with  my name as well and yours if you look!)  you can use some catchy phrase before or after your name like I had to with my domain name here.  Someone was using DebbieNicholson already and therefore Janet gave me a clue as to what to look for and between us we came up with whoisdebbienicholson.com and I also got workingwithdebbienicholson.com while I was at it.  What is branding you may ask?  Well it’s a site about me, a place where people can get to know about me; a place where I can share my inner passions; a place where I am me so that those who come to my site may grow to know, like, and trust me.  My passion is writing books therefore I could put heaps of stuff on about my books if I wanted.  Instead, I have chosen topics that interest me because I am finding that blogging is just like writing little books every day so I am very happy with this site.Janet Legere 150 size

I then went into a webinar that taught me how to create my lead capture page which is also important for building a list.  Our primary focus when being an internet marketer is to build one’s list constantly and then to look after and nurture your people who fast become friends over the years.  You send them regular emails to let them know what you are up to, what products you are promoting, and what your own personal progress is online.  And people do watch you.  They come to internet marketing thinking I want to make it on here, however, all around them they have doubters as to whether it will happen.  You just have to remember that it doesn’t happen overnight.  There is much training to be done.  There is much learning and understanding what you are doing.  Paying attention to your tutors who are well worth the money you spend on their time and their patience will soon help you lift yourself to a level whereby a regular amount of money is coming into your account every month and eventually you can say to the doubters, I have made it and look at the life style we can now lead because I persevered.  As with any business, it may take weeks, months, or even a couple of years.   Just have patience.  Build your business as you would if you had an offline one.  Remember that getting customers and keeping them is your first priority. We ended the day with an excerpt from a Stephen Covey video about Being Proactive.
More learning for the next 3 steps our next working day, so keep watching this spot.Debbie Nicholson - Author Kindle Store

How To Control Our Feelings

Today I am sharing with you a story I found on Facebook which has a great lesson to teach. The moral of the fenceA fence : A story with a great moral…
There once was a young boy with a very bad temper. The boy’s father wanted to teach him a lesson, so he gave him a bag …of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper he must hammer a nail into their wooden fence.
On the first day of this lesson, the little boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. He was really mad!
Over the course of the next few weeks, the little boy began to control his temper, so the number of nails that were hammered into the fence dramatically decreased.
It wasn’t long before the little boy discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.
Then, the day finally came when the little boy didn’t lose his temper even once, and he became so proud of himself, he couldn’t wait to tell his father.
Pleased, his father suggested that he now pull out one nail for each day that he could hold his temper.
Several weeks went by and the day finally came when the young boy was able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
Very gently, the father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence.
“You have done very well, my son,” he smiled, “but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same.”
The little boy listened carefully as his father continued to speak.
“When you say things in anger, they leave permanent scars just like these. And no matter how many times you say you’re sorry, the wounds will still be there.”Debbie Nicholson - Author Kindle Store

Paekakariki Beach Fishing Catch

Yesterday I went for a walk along the Paekakariki Beach and I came across a local Fisherman.

This machine called a Kontiki is sent 2Km out to sea powered by a motor on the beach and it hauls 25 lines out behind it.  It is left out there for 1 hour and then pulled back in, hopefully with some fish on the lines.

Needless to say I was thrilled to be there to watch what happens from the beginning to the end process.  The results for the day were very pleasing, the fisherman catching himself enough food to take home to his family.

Hold The Faith – Susan Preston

I just watched this trailer for a cool book on the market that is so in line with my own personal Christian interests.  When pressures come upon us sometimes it is hard to stay true to our faith.  What are our excuses? All of them would be weak outer-self beliefs.  We need to be always aware of our thinking and the strength that we can get from our inner-self.  Look to Matt. 7:24-27 about the building of houses on sand or rock – your choice.

Do you as a Christian know much about our Christian history?  Being an avid reader I like to delve into the lives of people in earlier times.  This interest has helped me so much with the work I do on family history research.  Stress crept into the lives of our past peoples just as it does in our lives today.

Trust is so imperative if we are to survive today – “But if it be of God you cannot overthrow it…” Acts 5: 39

Just thought I would share.Debbie Nicholson - Author Kindle Store
