Today I caught the train to Porirua and while waiting for an appointment with the Solicitor, I decided I would catch a movie. Oblivion just fitted into my time frame, therefore I decided that was the one for me today. I love Morgan Freeman. No matter what part he plays, he is always so convincing. The movie is based on a novel of the same name by Joseph Kosinski and Arvid Nelson.
I love Science Fiction and this film held me in suspense many times, jumping off my seat at times and experiencing great fear in the pit of my tummy at other times. Future Earth destroyed beyond recognition, and the story of 2 people left as the mop-up crew thinking that their mission is to save mankind from unfriendly beings. Look at their front porch landing platform. Fantastic views of the earth from thousands of feet up and living in a home to die for. And then a third person comes onto the scene – another woman – and of course 2 is company and 3 is a crowd – except that the third person turns out to be Jack’s wife of another time and place. Jack starts to question what his life is all about – they are just two weeks from finishing their mission – they will be going home – or so they think. I am not going to tell you any more as I would spoil it for anyone thinking of going to see the movie themselves. Stunning scenery shot in Iceland as well as in the USA. Jack’s space craft with it’s special design – I just loved what might be our own future means of transport in years to come. And below Jack and Julia Harper as they escape drone machines out to get them at all costs.
