I Wanted To Be A Teacher
When I was young everyone seemed to ask their young people “What do you want to be when you grow up?” My instant reaction was always that I wanted to be a teacher. Things never worked out for me to be one though, or so I thought. I certainly did not join my friends who went to Teachers Training College when it was time, because I had been selected to spend a year on a scholarship in Los Alto, California at the age of 16 therefore I spent my 17th birthday with my American Family Max and Ruth Moore, Greg, Cynthia, Victoria and Laura. I still wanted to be a teacher.
Eventually the year where I was a VIP soon ended and I returned home to finish out my school year at Mana College in Porirua. My father thought I should get a job in a bank, probably because the bank manager was one of his regular customers and so he had a foot in the door for me at the time. Still I wanted to be a teacher.
Life Was Passing Me By And Still I Wanted To Be A Teacher
I married, had children, owned several businesses. I still wanted to be a teacher. And then I was converted to the Mormon faith where now I could be the teacher I had always wanted to be. However, now that I have heard this talk by President Boyd K. Packer and watched his video and listened to the audio, I realise that all along I have been a teacher. When I was overseas I taught my fellow students things about New Zealand they didn’t know. In the bank I taught others coming into the bank to take up my position when I eventually left. When I married I was teaching my husband and my new family about how we did things in our house and then when the children came, I was teaching them how to grow from being little people into big people with responsibilities. During the ownership of my several businesses, I was constantly teaching staff. There is so much in life that we take for granted and think we have missed out on, when really that is not the case. Take the time to reflect upon the choices you wanted to make, that you made and then realised you had accomplished after all.To learn more from President Boyd K Packer’s talk click here.

Home Based Business
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a home based business and be able to stay home with the children and not worry about dropping them off at an expensive daycare down the road at some unearthly hour in the morning and then picking them up again well after dark in the evening?
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a home based business and not have to spend so much time away from the children who barely regard you as their parents now that you spend a total of 4 waking hours with them every day?
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a home based business and not be bogged down with a second car continually draining your living costs with the threats that the commodity petrol are facing with source countries continually at war and less than peaceful environments.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have ahome based business and not be threatened with fast rising costs and therefore less availability of what your preferences in life are as regards, food, travel and other such things creeping up onto your horizon.Living on one paycheck is so far out of reach for an ordinary family in order to just provide the common necessities nowadays.
Surely there is a better way to manage your family, yourselves and your living conditions. The more these questions circulate in one’s mind every day, the more attractive a home based business seems to be……………………….

Being A Member Of The Church

Being A Member Of The Church
Today is Sunday in New Zealand and I was very excited to be back at our home ward having spent the last 2 weeks visiting with my son’s Ward in Papakura. Even though the church is the same everywhere you go either in the lessons, setup, hymns, buildings, classrooms and everything that is familiar all around the world, it is always nice to be home being a member of the Church with personal friends who share the same community interests as your own. To see the new babies just born and how they have grown during your absence, to hear about who took over your position of playing the piano while you were gone, and all the usual being a member of the Church gossip from familiar faces.
Being A Member Of The Church Surrounded By Loving Friends
It was particularly lovely this morning because my little friend with MS felt well enough to attend and it was my privilege to pick her up and share my temple experiences with her on our journey to the Chapel and back. The only sad part about today’s experience was that she is off to live in another area tomorrow, being at the stage where she needs to go into professional care now and today is her last day with us.
Having had such a wonderful time during Temple week in Hamilton (the reason for my 2 week absence) I wanted to spend a lifetime sharing with her what I had felt, learned, and brought home with me as regards my strengthened testimony. She wanted to listen although we had too little time to catch up as she also had her own news for me.
Sharing amazing happiness and feeling amazing happiness will keep our friendship alive even though from tomorrow we will be separated by a great distance. The gospel will keep us together and thank goodness for technology we will be able to keep in touch through our phone messages.
I am so grateful to use what we can with what is available to us today to shorten distances so that it is possible to continue to being a member of the church no matter where in the world we find ourselves.
Iron Chef America – SECRET INGREDIENT And Chocolate!
following on from How To Build A Kick-Ass Gaming PC 2013 Computer Testing
……………..Improvements were found among all 30% of those taking part with the “before” results, who were randomly given the flavanol-rich and flavanol-poor drinks. These results now suggested that chocolate has another secret ingredient that is also responsible for brain functioning and blood flow improvements.
Neurologists will continue to do their research with no-doubt very willing helpers in a further series of tests that will be conducted in various medical institutions. Their main aim is to be able to produce this secret ingredient in the form of medication that can be dispensed from a bottle.
In the meantime I will continue to test myself on such things to see whether my own brain functions can be improved by my “addiction” to not just 2 cups of cocoa a day, but a few pieces of this delicious mouth-watering substance that is made just up the road from my childhood neighbourhood.
Of course, I may have problems accessing a magnetic resonance imaging machine. I may even have problems asking to be allowed to use an ultrasound machine. I tell you what, there is something I can supply and that is the warm gel they apply first before the ultrasound. Our local supermarket has heaps of that on their shelves and I am sure I will be able to buy in bulk to get the suitable thickness required. I could even supply the gel warmer, as well as the towel to clean up the mess afterwards. My contribution, along with being a very willing participant should help to find the secret ingredient, don’t you think?

………A simple computer testing screen test showing a pattern of a series of letters was the test chosen to give to the testing people involved, both before and after the event and the testing people involved were closely monitored in between for their reactions and habitual change. The test resulted in memory and reasoning points of significance.
Interesting results from the most modern up-to-date equipment was discovered. In order to measure blood flow to the brains of the testing people involved, ultrasound was used. MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) was used to examine the nerve fibres, otherwise known as “white matter”, that are known to connect distinctive parts of the brain.
Cerebral testing done in the “before” tests resulted in about 30% of the testing people involved suffering from acute white matter damage as well as a reduced flow of blood to their brains. The other 70% scored far higher with less damage to the white matter and a greatly increased blood flow to their brains. These computer testing results led to the thinking that brain structure, proper mental and intellectual functioning as well as healthy blood flow was significantly linked together.
The computer testing 70% showed little or no improvement after the 30 days testing of having 2 cups of cocoa every day, while the 30% did show noteworthy improvement to blood flow and faster reaction time when tests were completed on the final days. Surprisingly the flavanol was not able to be attributed to any of the improvements………..

Would You Like A Cup Of Cocoa Jeremy Clarkson?
following on from Dark Chocolate
…….We are not only talking about cakes of chocolate of course. It is known that 2 cups of good, strong cocoa every day does wonders for the body and for the soul in that there is an enlightened boost to memory cells and reasoning tests, as well as an ever increasing blood flow to one’s brains when able to indulge in this social drink. I think it could be the inclusion of flavanol which is a healthfully important antioxidant known for an increased function of the brain and blood vessels. Our researchers originally went into their testing programme to discover ways of increasing blood flow to the brain during a situation for resolving problems. They also touched on performance enhancing tests as regards not only the brain, but an improved functioning of blood vessels as well.
Cocoa With Flavanol Or Not?
In order to help them along with their testing, a flavanol-rich or flavanol-poor hot cocoa was given to the testing people involved, having already suspected that thinking skills and blood flow may be boosted by this most welcome cocoa beverage. The tests were done over 30 days because as both you and I know that in order for our minds to accept a change in habits, it seems that a 30 day period is the length of time that we must participate in any habit changing programme.
A simple computer screen test showing a pattern of a series of letters was the test chosen to give to the testing people involved…………..
………It is said lately that Chocoholics in the older or more mature age bracket are now blessed with having a far greater excuse for their obsession. Apparently, in order to keep that mind going, the dark chocolate that is available all around the world is very, very suitable specifically for this purpose. I am not sure whether that is a truthful saying or not, however, being in the Chocolate Cravings Club For Life, I’m all for it, what about you?
Brain Health And Dark Chocolate
There was a study done recently and backed up by being published in the Neurology Journal, that brain health and advanced thinking skills in the more mature age bracket can be vastly improved by indulging in dark chocolate. Quite frankly, when I am on such an indulgence, my cheeks feel very warm and my head gets a little out of whack, in fact I am feeling like that now (she says as she reaches for her 3rd row of yummy chocolate when yesterday she promised herself she would only have 2 pieces of 1 row from now on!!) Now when I mention the more mature age bracket, I am talking about people of any age finding myself in that age bracket recently. My grandchildren get the same symptoms as myself and they are a far younger generation than me, therefore I think the attributes given to dark chocolate can be found anywhere in anyone. I have 2 grandchildren who swear by dark chocolate and they are both nerds at school and in the top 10 of their entire school population…………
