Part 2: Cambodian Orphans Have Help Stitched Up
……………Instead, many have had to fight to bring up younger siblings – surviving the best and only way they knew how – in other words, survival of the fittest. And if they were lucky enough, they were in the right place at the right time to be johnny-on-the-spot when a kind heart entered their environment and snapped them out of there.
I would like to thank all of those people with philanthropic hearts who use their means to help others less fortunate than themselves. In this case, our retirement village resident is sacrificing her sleep, her personal time, her income, her every means possible to sew quilts for the Cambodian orphans. She now has enlisted the help of a neighbour to feed her because she seems tied to her sewing machine – the magnitude of the task she has set for herself has become an obsession. Others are joining her by donating materials, their time and their own contributions of quilts and blankets and anything they can make for the wee ones of the Cambodian orphanages.
It’s wonderful to know that in this world where everyone seems to have abandoned the “love they neighbour” ideal, that there are still people like our retirement village resident and her friends and now, new “stranger friends” she is attracting to the cause who still believe in treating their fellow man as they would be treated themselves.
